Kaalia of the Vast still wins when she does the same thing she always did: attack once safely and turn that attack into a board state the table cannot answer cleanly. The modern version is much less about jamming the biggest Angels, Demons, and Dragons you own and much more about protecting Kaalia, choosing ETB or attack payoffs, and keeping the average hand from becoming uncastable.

How this deck wins

Kaalia closes by cheating one or two truly punishing threats into combat before opponents can stabilize. The best hits are creatures that are worth the risk immediately, whether because they generate removal, lock combat, or threaten lethal in one or two steps. Protection is part of the win condition here, not a side detail.

Common mistakes

The classic mistake is too many giant flyers and not enough haste, protection, or card flow. The second is keeping slow hands because they contain perfect top end. Kaalia loses a lot of games in deckbuilding when the first three turns do not support the commander's first attack.
